Learning to Roller Skate

This week in my spelling I had to write a poem about something I have learned so I wrote about  learning how to roller skate.  I had to use some of my spelling words so they are purple.  Here's the poem!

When I learned to roller skate
I found it very hard to hate.
Sometimes I like to go outside and play
When I go out and roller skate at midday.
I can skate in a triangle
And also in a right angle!
Oh how I love to roller skate
I find it very hard to hate!

This is a video that I watched when I first learned how to skate.  I hope you like it!

San Francisco

This year for our vacation we went to San Francisco.

                                                                           Lombard street
Lombard street is a big street  with a lot of pretty houses
and a bunch of flowers.  It is the steepest and curviest street in
                                 the world.
Sea lions
These are the sea lions. It is their 21 birthday! They were loud,
 stinky, and funny!
  Alkatraz
This tour was really fun, but I would not want to live there!
     The Golden Gate Bridge
This bridge is 1.7 miles long. We walked about half of it. On the other side of the
bridge there is Sausalito. We went there too.

These are my four favorite things we did in SF.  I hope you enjoyed it!

Helen Keller - The Amazing Woman

Helen Keller

Helen Keller was blind and deaf. She was born in 1880 and died in 1968. She lived to be 87 years old. When she was little she got so frustrated she would throw her food. She would even steal food from people's plates! She was the most educated blind and deaf person in the world!!
She had a ship named after her! Sometimes I like to run my hands over brail in stores, It's cool to think she could read little dots!! When she went to the circus, she couldn't see or hear what was going on so the performers made her part of the show!!

I learned all this by reading Helen Keller by Margaret Davidson. Helen Keller was a really cool person and I wish I could be like her!!

Yuck! Eeeew! Gross! (but really fun!)

Today I went to dissect owl pellets at the Cochran Mill Nature Center. In the owl pellets we could find small animal bones, fur, and feathers. I found a shrew skull. Owl pellets are basically owl throw up. It is all the stuff they can't digest, which winds up in their gizzard. The four types of owls that live in GA are the Barn Owl, the Barred Owl, the Great horned Owl, and the Screech Owl.

My Fun New Project

Yesterday I went to the park with my friend Mrs.Ladman. She is teaching me to knit fingerless gloves for a project I am doing. She taught me how to pearl. (To pearl is to knit backwards). I am reading a book called "Calico Bush". In that book they knit a lot.

My aunt taught me how to knit while we were in New York. She gave me two balls of yarn and a pair of needles. I think knitting is really fun, and I can't wait to knit something new!
